

James Scherer joined PLM Lake and Land Management in 2010 at the Morrice office and advanced into his current role as Regional Manager. In this position, he oversees pond and lake management programs while working closely with municipalities, lake boards, and property owners across Michigan to implement effective, science-based management plans.
James earned an associate’s degree in environmental science from Lansing Community College. During his studies, he worked with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s Air Quality Division, supporting programs such as asbestos abatement permitting. He also interned with the Water Bureau Division, assisting with water sampling, nutrient load analysis, and fisheries surveys on the Kalamazoo and Huron Rivers.
Throughout his career with PLM, James has progressed from field operations into project management and regional leadership. He has developed extensive experience with EGLE permitting and coordination with lake municipalities throughout the state.
Outside of work, James is a committed family man and a passionate steelhead fisherman.
