David Hillstrom

David Hillstrom joined PLM Lake and Land Management in 2012 and currently serves as the Northern Senior Regional Manager of the Midwest Region. In this role, he oversees daily operations, staff leadership, and aquatic invasive species management programs from PLM’s Brainerd, Minnesota location. David works extensively throughout central and northern Minnesota, collaborating with lake associations, local stakeholders, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to implement effective, science-based management programs.

David earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communication, with a minor in Business Administration, from the University of Minnesota Duluth. His academic focus included professional communication, group communication, conflict management, and public relations. He began his career with PLM as a seasonal employee and advanced into his current leadership role through his dedication and expertise.

David holds a Category F pesticide applicator certification and is trained in adult first aid and AED. He is also a PADI-certified Divemaster and serves as a Special Deputy on the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family, boating, SCUBA diving, and continuing his education within the aquatic management field.
