Colton Risner joined PLM Lake and Land Management in 2014 while attending Lake Superior State University, where he later earned his bachelor’s degree. He began his career in PLM’s pond division at the Alto office and advanced into his current role as Project Manager. In this position, Colton works with pond clients across West Michigan to implement best management practices and support effective aquatic programs.
Colton is a certified pesticide applicator and has developed his expertise through extensive field experience. During his studies, he interned with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe and volunteered with the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery, building a strong foundation in fisheries and aquatic resource management.
His passion for environmental stewardship continues to guide his work, including contributions to phosphorus mitigation projects and the implementation of new technologies in aeration, fountains, and algae control.
Outside of work, Colton enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping with his wife.
