This is a seasonal Aquatic Field Technician/Applicator position based in Shakopee, Minnesota, focused on hands-on outdoor work managing aquatic plants and algae.

PLM Lake & Land Management Corp. (PLM) is Minnesota’s leading lake and pond management company specializing in aquatic plant management, invasive species control, water quality services, and phosphorus mitigation. 

We are seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our Shakopee-based field team. This role offers meaningful, hands-on environmental work and the opportunity to directly impact the health of Minnesota’s inland lakes. 

Position Overview

This is a full-time seasonal position (~9 months), beginning in early spring. Strong performers may qualify for extended employment or long-term career advancement within PLM. Daily travel throughout Central Minnesota is required. 

A Day at PLM

Your day begins early, meeting your crew to review treatment plants, safety protocols, and lake conditions. After loading equipment and confirming plans, you head to the job site.

On the water, you will: 

• Operate boats equipped with GPS-guided spray systems

• Apply aquatic herbicides in accordance with permits and label requirements
• Monitor treatment zones and assess plants
• Communicate with lake residents and association representatives

• Document applications and maintain accurate field records

Throughout your day, you’ll work alongside experienced crew members who love their job and have a passion for the outdoors, troubleshooting equipment as needed, and ensure all applications are completed safely and professionally.

Primary Responsibilities

• Application of aquatic herbicides in compliance with permits and regulations
• Operation of boats, spray systems, GPS units and support vehicles

• Equipment calibration, inspection, and routine maintenance
• Accurate completion of daily field documentation
• Professional interaction with clients

• Safe trailering and transport of equipment

• Adherence to all environmental compliance and safety standards

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license (must meet PLM’s Driver Qualification checklist)
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card (company assisted)
• Ability to obtain Commercial Pesticide Application Certification (company supported)
• Comfortable working on open water and outdoors in varying weather

• Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction

• Ability to lift 50 pounds

• Available Monday–Friday, with early start times and varying end times

•Background or interest in environmental science, natural resources, or related fields preferred 
• Experience operating boats, trailers, or trucks is beneficial but not required
